Squall makes sure his eager pup doesn't leave the apartment before he closes the door behind Zell. He would have enjoyed getting to kiss Zell's cheek but with the attention being on Lucky he doesn't mind being ignored right now.]
[Zell doesn't even hesitate. He's grinning as soon as he sees Lucky, and scoops him up when the puppy is bouncing and barking excitedly around his ankles. He promptly gets kissed, which only makes him grin more. Getting a kiss from Squall might be better, but this is no slouch of a second prize.] Of course he is! Since when are you a dog guy, Squall? I woulda thought with the whole lion thing, you'd be into cats!
Well yeah I mean... I like lions but I always liked dogs as a pet. They cuddle and love you so much, a lion would just...probably maul me or something.[He shrugs as he watches the sweet display between Lucky and Zell and quickly takes a picture of it.] He really likes you and I'm glad you like him.
Ma used to compare me to a puppy sometimes. [It's pretty easy to see where one might make the comparison, too. Angeal's certainly come to the same conclusion. As for Squall...well, maybe it highlights for him just why he's always liked Zell so much.] Of course I'm gonna like dogs!
[He tousles Lucky's ears, then grins at Squall.] So, was this the surprise?

I got you some clothes too. I hope you like them cause I didn't know your style. [He moves into to the duo of his dog and Zell and gives both a kiss on the forehead before resting his head against Zell's neck. Is he being an affectionate cat right now? You bet.]
Sure thing! Rings are something I actually already know how to make, too! Gimme the right materials and I oughta be able to make something pretty good! Especially if you've got a reference or something. I can come up with original designs, too, but obviously that's a little harder.

Honestly, I was going to say that it doesn't really matter, but then it occurred to me that I suppose there's nothing actually stopping me from getting both an engagement ring and a wedding ring. My parents were too poor to do anything but get legally married, and the ring actually came after. That's how it's always been in my head.
Anyway, in case that didn't make it clear, it's for me. Depending on how certain things go in the future, I'm going to be proposing to my boyfriend.

But engagement rings tend to be fancier and more unique, so...that'll be tougher. I might not even know if I've got the skill to pull off what you want until you tell me what you're going for. So, uh, again - you sure you want me to be the one to do it? Even though the Peacekeeper could whip you up anything you wanted?

Don't worry about your skill level. We have plenty of materials to practice with. No doubt it would be easier to simply go to the Peacekeeper to ask for something immediately, no fuss, but that isn't the point. I don't want to give him something that I just had pop into existence.
I want it to be a ring that has meaning behind it. And the work put into it helps give it that.
Honestly, all the limitations are gonna be down to tools and machines and materials. As long as you've got the stuff, or the stamps to acquire the stuff we need, we should be able to pull off a decent amount of stuff. Like, engraving's easy if you've got a machine to handle it.
Plant theme's pretty vague, though. Are we talking a ring shaped like a plant, or engraved with plants, or what? None of the options should be too hard unless you've got something crazy complex in mind.
I think I agree with you, though. A ring's gotta have sentimental value. Obviously you can't go shopping for the perfect ring in a world with no economy, so you wanting to put in the work another way makes sense.
My workshop should have the tools, since I made sure to get all the bells and whistles for it when asking the Peacekeeper about it, but you can always come over again to make sure I'm right. I'm no expert, after all. I'll be sure to treat you to lunch, so tell me what your favorite meal is.
